Day 3: February 1
The thought for the day is APPRECIATION.
Mother Teresa said, “There is more hunger for love and appreciation in this world than for bread.” Isn’t that the truth? How many people do you know who suffer from depression or low self-esteem because they feel unworthy and unloved? Perhaps you’re one of them. It’s difficult to reach out to others when you feel badly about yourself.
When you look within and train yourself to see the Good that You are, you won’t need the approval of others to feel good about yourself. When you open your eyes to the Truth of Who you are, you will begin to see It in others, too. You are Good incarnate. God is not only here and present in you, but as you. And if you are Good incarnate, so is your gay neighbor, your child, the young woman of a different race on the other side of town, your sibling who has different political views than you, your transgender co-worker, and the elderly man of a different religion in another country. We all began as a brilliant idea in Divine Mind and we were created to make manifest the unlimited possibilities inherent in our Nature.
Spend time in meditation focusing on who you are and from Whom you came. Consider all the wonderful qualities you embody and feel appreciation for them. Then think about someone you may have some conflict with. See beyond the circumstances to the Truth of who they are. Feel appreciation for the Presence of God within them. Meditate on the word Namaste’ – the Divine in me recognizes and honors the Divine in you. Tell the other person what you’ve discovered and how much you value them.
