Empowerment in Nonviolent Peacemaking

A 2009 Season for Peace and Nonviolence Event

Peace Unity Church & Holistic Center will host "Empowerment in Nonviolent Peacemaking," a Michigan Peace Team Basic Training.

It will take place at the church from 9am - 6pm on Saturday, March 28, 2009. A luncheon will be provided.

This event is a hands-on practical experience of the skills necessary to be a peacemaker in your world: at work, in the home, at play, and on the world stage. Come and experience the transforming power of nonviolence; learn and practice skills for nonviolent peacemaking; experience working as a Peace Team; and practice consensus building and nonviolent communication. Attendees will also receive a copy of "Steps Toward inner Peace."

A free-will love offering will be received for this event.

Question of the Day

"What's your motivation for doing what you do? What is it that drives you and moves you forward?"

Tamara Lowe, author of the new book "Get Motivated!", and her team studied 100,00 people over an eight year period. They discovered that motivation was more important to success than one's education, talent, or network of contacts.

Your motivation is your "why" It's your reason for doing what you do. It's your purpose; it's your mission.

So, now I extend the question to you. I am interested in hearing your responses.

Inner Peace, World Peace

We can work on inner peace and world peace at the same time. On one hand, people have found inner peace by losing themselves in a cause larger than themselves, like the cause of world peace, because finding inner peace means coming from the self-centered life into the life centered in the good of the whole. On the other hand, one of the ways of working for world peace is to work for more inner peace, because world peace will never be stable until enough of us find inner peace to stabilize it.
